Anyone here with any experience? we're still at the investigation stage and ideally I wouldn't have posted so early but needs must.
In particular, any experience of dual systems ie GSH for the central heating and a supplementary system for the hot water.
we are talking to some reputable firms and have acquaintances who have installed the system and have recommended reliable and experienced plumbers but it would be good to hear from others who have done this.
Thanks

Apparently Mr Nigel Smith is a very good source of hot air.
but he can't keep it up for long.

Is it the sort of thing Morganish knows about?
Or Vints?

You really need to have underfloor heating if you're using a heat pump. The water isn't as hot as from a traditional boiler. Are you building a new house or is this retro-fit? If retro-fit you could fit bigger radiators to compensate from the lower flow temperature.
Make sure the collector pipes are buried deep enough. If they're too shallow you'll create a permafrost and nothing will grow above them.

Yup, we have installed it. My email is in Peet's, if you want to ask more questions after Monday. Can talk to you tomorrow but got to log off now, getting a headache. Just wanted to put my hand up so you knew I was here

thanks Vints and Maman. It will be mainly retro but it may be possible to install underfloor. Friends with a similar age houser seem to be doing OK with radiators. it's the idea of combining it with another system that I would like to explore. I am on a tablet here and not verty good at using it!

Hi Barefoot (ex Choirmistress??)
My uncle works for a company doing this sort of stuff. His house and garden have turned into a big ground source heat pump experiment (lots of gizmos taking lots of measurements to look at optimising the performance).
They live in a fairly substantial old farmhouse, and took up the floor to install underfloor heating - big job. Prior to that I think it was just the radiators that were powered by ground source.
I can't remember what the company's called, but could find out for you if it would help.

Bex - lovely to see you - and Catwoman as well - haven't see to have seen you for ages either.
We are in touch with several suppliers - what I am trying to establish is if anyone is running the system in combination with other sources ie GSH for central heating but a boiler for hot water.
Maman - I've got your email from when you posted the Meet Books to me so will drop you a line somtime. MAny thanks.

Barefoot, I will enquire what uncle is doing for his hot water and report back in Peets in due course.
