My Yahoo email and all ´óÏó´«Ã½ sites are not displaying/working correctly. It started first thing this morning. I did restarts and scans and things returned to normal for a while before reverting. Then had an upgrade to FF19 but that didn't cure the situation. Then wondered if it was a DNS error but switching the router off for over twenty minutes hasn't had the desired effect. Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Oh, and I've just discovered that Youtube is affected. I'm beginning to suspect Flash, Java or one of those things that I'm never sure what they actually do. All my add-ons are enabled in FF.
Still stumped.

Have you tried viewing those sites in another browser? That would help determine whether it's machine-wide (therefore possibly related to your system or your broadband) or only affecting Firefox, which would suggest it's something related to the Firefox software or one or more of the add-ons.

I've just fired up my webmail in IE (spit) and it is OK there. Have tried it in FF again and still no joy.
I agree it looks like FF but I've looked at all the settings and I can't see anything obvious wrong with it. I'll try uninstalling & reinstalling all the add-ons next.
Thanks for your thoughts. I let you know how I get on.

jont usually recommends setting up a test profile within Firefox. I can't remember the exact method, but it'll be on the Proteus thread somewhere (probably more than once). If the pages are displaying correctly there, you know it's something in your main profile which is causing the problem; either one of your add-ons or corrupted setting somewhere. You can intall the add-ons one by one to the test profile and see which if any causes the problem.
It couldn't be that NoScript (or similar add-on) has forgotten your whitelist and is blocking Javascript on these pages, is it? If pages aren't displaying correctly in my case I often find it's because NoScript is blocking the Javascript elements of the page. If it's 'forgotten' the whitelist you have set, it'll stop the pages from displaying correctly (it'll also prevent you from playing videos on Youtube, if scripts are blocked on that site). There may be other add-ons which do a similar job; NoScript is the one I'm familiar with, but you may have another.

I just found a "drastic action" button in FF. Have nuked everything and am now putting everything back to normal. Panic over. One good side effect is that I've got Georgia font back in Proteus. Although it is set in my theme, something has been over-riding it for a while.
Thanks for the help.

No probs. Glad you got it sorted. Remember it, and if I have a problem like that in future I'll come asking.
