Posted by Mermaid the Knitter and Bear Restorer (U15064923) on Sunday, 24th February 2013

    Hallo from the past.

I think it's wonderful that this message board is to be kept as an archive. Maybe no-one will ever read it, maybe some people will. So in case someone reads this many years from now, I'd like to leave a message for you.

Tomorrow, the day this message board closes, is Monday, February 25th, 2013 which also happens to be my 66th birthday.

I post here at the moment as Mermaid the Knitter and Bear Restorer. I started as Windfarm Mermaid and gradually added "The Swishy Fishy Tailed Wise One" from comments people had made to me.
Last year I somehow locked myself out of that account so revived another I had set up under the name of Octopus and changes the screen name to Mermaid and then added the rest as I have a bit of a reputation for knitting and I have recently restored another poster's bear. The references to Peeps, should you come across them, are about little golf ball size crochet balls to which I add wings and a beak and distribute to posters, at meets or by post. Some people find them a great comfort, which is good.

I've posted on a number of threads over the years and the Mental Health thread in the Village Hall has been a great support.

In the early days of my posting I wrote the Sagas of Thorkjell Tusherson, a cat who posts here. I was quite pleased with them, especially when another poster read and recorded them.

The best thread for me was when our first grandchild was born, Merbaby, a girl, on June 1st, 1998. The messages for us new grandparents were wonderful. Her brother, Mertot, was born on December 15th 2011.

And the final part (for now) is the fact that Merman, my husband since 1974, has now been reunited with his mother, 69 years after she was forced to give him up for adoption. He has a half brother and sister who are so welcoming and delighted to have us, our sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in their lives. Posters have sent us very warm, touching messages about it.

For anyone with the time to search through all the threads, there are some wonderful stories here which will make fascinating reading for you.

Whenever - if ever - you read this, may I wish you well.

    Merms
