Dear Friends,
You have no idea how many times I've thought about what to post this morning & each time I've added something else I want to say.
I've no intention of trying to be witty or clever, I'm neither of those.
However I try to be honest, truthful, helpful & considerate & I don't intend to change.
ML was & is my first & only foray into the world of messageboards, what a joy it has been to find so many like minded people & hopefully, now I have the honour to call friends.
I see each & every one of you in my mind's eye every time I read a post.
I've had the delight of making friends in real life, & I have received so much sound advice & support in all areas of life. (The Organist too.)
We've sorted many a problem between us, we've been there when a shoulder was needed, we're non judgemental, we're.... I could go on & on...
I think we've probably Hatched, Matched & very sadly Dispatched some very, very dear friends.
However, when , in my late teens things went slightly awry, I made a decision never to look back, or regret things I couldn't change,
so later today we'll move on to pastures new & continue to face the world head on.
I'm hoping to be back by 11.55 & we'll raise a glass, mug or cup to the future.

I think I will, you all have kept me sane over the years. Perhaps you don't remember me from the past I was the one with the addiction for keeping Greyhounds. Only have one now due to mobility problems. I was so pleased when you said you would adopt a couple. I love hearing about your two.

I didn't expect to be up this early now that olivekitten is sleeping through (thank goodness I found this place when he wasn't), but Elderkitten is a unwell. She's 'a bit hot'. Covers have been pushed back and medicine administered so I'm back off to bed.
I'll be back later. OC x

Now if there had been an OW, a Barefoot Choir Mistress and a Morty Vicar present, - with perhaps a Dean Volecape thrown in for good measure, - you could have sung hymns of Praise, and / or held a solemn requiem for the dear (almost), departed residents of Mustardland.

Such a good 'final' opening post, thank you OW, it wont be long before we feel at home in the new kitchen, I know it is shiny and neat , but I hope that before long it is homely and used and lived in.
The early threads on here have always contained wisdom, support, fun and sympathy when needed, the earlies have caused me to shed a tear, laugh, snork, gasp and cheer, and will continue to do so on the other boards, old and new friends will soon mingle in the New Kitchen.

I know I don't post on this thread but it has been my favorite over these past years - I live in the US and am often out of kilter time-wise for posting - But walking into the warm kitchen has been my morning ritual for several years now and I thank everyone for the quiet conversation, tea and oftimes a muffin or something to get me going -- Your lives are an extrodinary window in the minds and hearts of (wo)mankind and I am all the better for having visited.

wonderful OP, OW. You've said it all.
I too was a message board newbie when I joined and apart from a brief visit to an ME board, I have stayed true to ML ever since. The truth is, that no other forum was needed. All human life and much kindness is here.
I seldom dream but in between bursts of sleepnessness I dreamt I was back in Nepal, losing everything including my shoes and finally my purse, as I desperately tried to find my way 'home' there. I don't think I need Rwth to interpret that one.
I hope alloccasionals and lurkers will follow us to the 'other side'.
And now for the hat
I wore it back to front because I thought no-one deserved the site of my mug as the drank their beverage of choice or ate their porridge. The top serpent needs some attention as he is too floppy (I'm sure some-one will be along to make an unappropiate comment on *that*, later)
I ahve some music to cher us on our way but it will keep for now.
Meanwhile, there's a large pot of Machu Picchu for those who want it and a selection of teas, herbal and otherwise, complete with an array of tea-pots - standards must be maintained at all times.

How lovely to see new people in here today and over the past few days. Please do join us in our new home.

Good Morning,
A perfect opening post OW.
My sadness is that it won't be so easy for newcomers to 'come across' us in our new kitchen and therefore a large number of people will be denied the support, humour, advice and caring that has been found in this thread and so many others over the years.
Lets hope the lurkers and returners join us to celebrate what we mean to each other.

Good morning from the East, Germany joining the chain. Thank you OW for your opening post.
The Day thou Gavest always brings a lump to my throat. I was raised very Presbyterian and when I was a tiny girl my mother told me to think of my grandparents in Australia ("That's not west!" said my father who always believed in the truth before kindness) when we sang that hymn on Sunday evenings.
Many, many years later, when OH was nearly dead of a brain abscess I clung onto it as I knew I had a chain of people around the world who were praying for him, and me. (He didn't die and is almost normal now.)
And yes, that is what this Kitchen has been like too. I work many hours a day so am not often able to pop in during the day although I do try and catch up in the evening.
I have loved reading about what you are doing, thank you all for sharing your lives. Thank you too for the instant support when things were not so easy here.
Today I will be back at lunchtime and so plan to be onsite so to speak for the Shutdown.
And hope to see you all over at Sue's.
Wobble.

My last dream - I'd taken a group of very old people and their dogs for a clifftop walk to look at the sunset. I got my camera out to record the beautiful colours, and realised that it wasn't a sunset, the cliffs were on fire, and I had to try to hurry the old folk and their dogs to safety.

Hope you get your wallet back intact, Rod.
Diri, I just wanted to say how much your visit meant to me when I was so ill. And a thanks to everyone who helped me through those dark days when I really thought I'd be there forever. I shan't forget the lovely emails that Gwen sent me with pictures to cheer me up. And Dunlurkin and her DD and littlest Lurkin coming especially to give my hair a much needed make-over. And of course, Old Dibble who has proved that even the most unlikely people can be firm friends. His endless kindness and practical support are beyond words.

Just popping some cinnamon porridge with Greek yogurt, fruit and nuts on the side for anyone who wants breakfast. Luna hasn't left my side since I got back yesterday so she and I are sending you all a cheery wave and a meow

Hello, Dahlia and Granny Liz.
I have used messageboards since the mid-90s but none that I have seen has fostered both as pleasant an atmosphere and as strong a sense of community as Mustardland. I shall be sorry to see it disappear off the ´óÏó´«Ã½ web site.
Some of us have already started to continue the earlybirds tradition in Sue's and Peet's. I hope that those of us who still want to keep in touch with the earlybirds will join us there.

Is this where I confess that when I went to the real machu Picchu and watched the sun rising over the city, I smoked a joint with some young people. Without it I doubt whether I would have made it down the steep path to the site itself. (Mods - it was another time and another country, I am not condoning the use of illegal substances here and now)
