Hi Everyone
Welcome to the new gardening message boards.
If you need help at any point you can access the help pages via the 'help' link at the top right of the page, next to the 'House Rules' link. Here's a direct link to the help pages:
Here's a brief summary of the new functionality:
Registration - Before you can post onto this new message board, you will need to re-register for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Membership via the sign on bar at the top of the page.
You'll see two options. 'Create new membership' or 'Sign in'.
If you've used the older style message boards and want to use the same log in details chose 'sign in'. Your log in name *will* become visible on the site, but you have the option to change your name to a Nickname that you're happy to be publicly visible, once you're registered by clicking on the 'Change Your Nickname' button, or clicking on this link,
If you'd prefer to open a brand new account, or you're new to the board, select the 'Create account' option instead.
There are a number of new features on this board, that you can try out now you're here.
Who is online: You can see who else is online at the current time, while you read the board. People who are logged in and posting as you are reading, will have two
asterisks by their name, like this, James**
Your Discussions; Your name is a link, click on it and you'll be taken to a page that lists all the conversations that you have posted to with a link to the latest posting in that conversation. This makes it really easy for you to keep track of your conversations. You can also click on someone else's name, to see where they have posted. You can find all the conversations that you've ever posted to, on this new board, by clicking on the 'Earlier >> ' button, each page shows 20 postings. If you want to jump to your own last posting in any conversation, click on the ‘Last contribution’ link in the left-hand column.
There's also a link to 'Your discussions' page at the top of each topic, next to the change nickname section.
Emoticons; emoticons are small images that can be posted to add 'emotions' to your conversations, like and . You can see a basic list of them here:
External links; You can include links to both ´óÏó´«Ã½ and external websites in your posting on this board. All links posted must meet our editorial guidelines for external links, which you can read here . We reserve the right to remove a link that it is broken, or if it's unsuitable for our audience. You can read more about which type of links are unsuitable by referring to the House Rules.
Quoting: You can automatically quote any other posting in your message - if you'd like to - by using the 'quote this message' button. You can quote all or part of the message, by editing the text, try it out!
If you have any questions, please post them into this discussion, and we'll respond.
We hope you enjoy using the new boards.
Happy gardening and posting
Tom
Hello Tom! I'm already cross because my name wasn't recognised, had to go through loads of channels to convince the system I am who I say I am, and then just replying to your message took me through so many windows I nearly gave up! Please tell me it's not always going to be like this?
Hi Plocket,
It was a smooth trip for me
I think I'm sorted now William - except that I don't get notifications to say I've had replies. Ah well - we can't have it all I guess!
I saw that as a problem during my jaunts onto the food boards. I think you look at your own "account" & it gives details of all the discussions you have been involved in - possibly!
Hi Plocket - no latest messages either. Ho hum!
Just have to pop back and skim on a regular basis.
I think you have to check "your discussions" at the top of the page. Not a very satisfactory set-up in my humble!
Yes, but then you'd miss the new ones.
I suppose we'll get used to it and just have to hope improvements such as photos and PMs will come in time. At least now we can post lnks without disappearing but I do wish they hadn't added blinking smileys! Not an improvement IMHO.
Managed to register but the system would not accept the ID and password I have been using for ages and even this morning on the old message board. To say I am unhappy with the registration process is a slight understatement.
The Beeb has killed off Toadspawn. It has been replaced by Casgwent. Yes it is Welsh.
Flutter, flutter, flutter, and... alight! Twas as smooth as the flight of a butterfly for me too - have we done something wrong?
Margi x
Hello sweetie! Glad you made it! How are you feeling today? Px
Welcome, Margi!! It went smoothly as a baby's bum for me to! So far ...
After a suggestion from one of the other boards the name Toadspawn has been accepted again and replaces Casgwent.
This could get very confusing for a little brain like mine!
By dose is ruddig, bud udderwise OK - The Seedling's coughing, but otherwise fine. I think we're on for tomorrow by the looks of it, as long as you don't mind me blowig by dose rather a lot. Let's hope for the same weather as today...
M x
Hurrah! Well in that case we will see you tomorrow - what time will suit you? 10.00am? Picnic? Let me know!!! Px
It ain't over till it's over, Lord Steve... The famous Battle of the Green Gardening Boards hasn't even started properly yet!
M x
Hurrah indeed! Was thinking either 10.30 or 11, to do shops first, then lunch, then a decent stroll around the grounds...? And adventure playground if they're good... Can't be bothered with a picnic, and tomorrow's payday so I'm happy to push the boat out a bit!
OK?
M x
Perfect - can we aim for 10.30am then for a fuller day? What time do you think we'll leave in the afternoon - just so I can let OH know?
(I'm so excited! LP is too!) Px
Grrr! It just refused to know me for a second there, and lost what I had typed. Honeymoon over!!!
Fine - 10.30 - gulp! Will have to get organised... And if you aim to leave at 4.30, you should get home for six with no problems I think...
Shall we meet as close as possible to the Rostherne entrance? Cherry or big blue?
I'm going to watch Shrek 2 again (!) now, so ring me if anything changes.
Looking forward to it...
M X (& Seedling x)
Let's make it 11.00am then - that gives us five hours anyway!!! 4.30pm sounds good - I'll give LP tea in the car.
What do you mean as close to the entrance as possible? I've never been before!!! Do you mean near the entrance to the grounds once we are in the car park or near the gates?
Oh and Big Blue is the charriot of choice tomorrow!
Enjoy your film and I'll see you tomorrow - LP is positively hyper already!!!
Mwah! Px
So where are you going?
....... I don't know if it's a secret or not!!!
Don't think it's a secret, but I think unfortunately you're a bit far away to join us.
Wombat (or the artist formerly known as...) is more in the right area, as I believe are a couple of others... we're going to Tatton Park for the day, so if you're there and you see two devastatingly beautiful women with small girls around their ankles ... err... you need a new guide dog!
Margi x
OK - 11 it is then. There are a few car parks, so I think if we just pause a decent distance inside the main Rostherne gate (after we've paid our entrance to the park) and wait for each other, we can then decide where we're going on the inside...
Looking forward to seeing you...
M x (Mwah!)
Excellent - I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. And I don't know about you but I'm intending to look gorgeous tomorrow!!! See you around 11.00am!
Testing
It worked!
