What a wonderful programme this evening! It was great to see the Chihully Glass being installed, and the Magnificent Seven in action again - but best of all this evening (I think) was seeing what the volunteers do at Kew. They were so enthusiastic about what was basically weeding - and what a difference those 300 volunteers made. If I had a drink I'd raise a toast to them! What a valuable job they do at Kew.
Technology has failed me!
I went out to the pub last night, leaving Sky+ in charge of recording Kew. Came home to find that it had not recorded.
Was it the last in the series? That would be typical, having watched all of the previous episodes.
Not seen it yet, I'm a Bleak House fan, but looking forward to seeing it on watch again (I hope). It has been really enjoyable hasn't it?
I don't think it was the last in the series Lord Steve - I'm so sorry you missed it though coz I know you like the tree gang. They went to sort out some trees at Castle Howard and Jon was sent up a tree with "stag horn" - the top of the tree had died due to stress. Clever old trees stop growing at the top if they are suffering, and form a new canopy lower down that they can cope with - you learn something new every day they say! Anyway, I hope there's a repeat on in the week for you, or on a non-terrestrial ´óÏó´«Ã½ channel.
What a shame. I DO like the tree gang! I loved what they did with the tree slide last week. I hope to catch up with it when it reached the satellite gardening channel.
I loved the look of that tree slide thing last week - I wanted to whizz down it and roll about in the straw!!!
Just caught up with it last night. I thought it was one of the best. It was quite mind blowing seeing the soil that they have all those precious trees growing on - potentially quite a fragile existence I would guess. The tree gang are always good value. What really comes over is how much they all love what they are doing. Look forward to seeing the changes over the years.
