Just finished watching X Factor- about to start babysitting - who do you think should go out tonight (apologies to other site visitors!)-
On a gardening note, I cut down my Passion Flower today, that was rampant a few weeks ago but looked completely dead today. Also did lots of Christmas shopping. PA
Hi PA, have just watched the results show it's a shame that any of them had to go. I could'nt choose between them -they were all fantastic! Brenda took it so well and I love the way Kate is so involved with them on a personal level. I loved Andy's 2nd song, it's one of my all time favorites and he belted it out like it was the last song he would ever sing. I think they all deserve a record deal! Next week is going to be exciting I can hardly wait!
On a gardening note..think I have carrot fly lavae on my lottie

Sure I have replied to this - not sure where message went - am up & down with kids at moment- neither of them will settle - they always KNOW!! Stunned that Brenda went out - glad I don't have to choose next week - they are all good.
Not sure what Lottie is - asked question before when someone said it was their fave flower- told it looks like Juliet!!Asssume carrot fly attacks carrots?? Will you make it to the party? PA
What on earth has this to do with gardening? Apart from the carrot queerie I fail to see any connection.

Sheila G you ARE Merrymonarda!!!! Do I get a prize?
Hi Princess, not sure if we have been told off or not!... perhaps we would be better off on the design board and put OTGF X Factor as a heading then we would'nt have to add a snippet of growing related topics on the end.
By the way my 'Lottie' is for allotment, of which I now have 2, I got the first one out of sheer desperation to be able to garden on 'the flat' as my garden at home is a steep upwards slope, shady for best part of the day and overlooked by nosey neighbours. The lottie is in full sun all day and I love being over there, it's my own private heaven.

Hi LL
Being thick again - not sure what you meant by Merrymonarda- would seriously love an allotment as mt garden is tiny but work full time and not sure I would do it justice - maybe when I retire - but determined to grow veg & child friendly plants next year in my little pots.
LOL PA
Princess, the MerryMonada thing was when the new boards first strarted up, it was on the Design board on OTGF Who what where etc Part 1. Merrymonada was a mystery person who changed her nickname and everyone was trying to guess who it was...I think Rhoda has guessed it right. It is an interesting read but you will be forgiven if you give up when you see the 'quilt'!(although it is quite funny!)
As for getting an allotment - it's a great thing to have and even if you can only do a couple of hours a week it would still be worth it..I can hardly wait for the spring to come so I can see mine full of colour (hopefully!)

Thanks for explaining that - I do get muddled on this site even though I rate my intelligence! What will you be doing on your allotment - lots of veggies? That's what I will trying next year in pots for the grandchildren - roll on spring, I hate this dark time. PA
PA you're right the boards are a bit confudling at times, my first interpretation of OTGF was 'only to gardening friends' as it seemed to be the same people posting to each other, then it was explained to someone as the true meaning of 'over the garden fence' meaning the topic can be about anything..phew!
My 1st lottie was planned as an ornamental kitchen garden, I want to grow all the flowers that don't thrive at home, I plan to have a mass of sunflowers at the back in the summer and the other borders will just be jam packed hopefully and then the veggies were to be in amongst the flowers , (I have bought so many different seeds I am going to be a very busy bee in spring.)
Once I started the plot I became hooked ( as any lottie holder will tell you) and I then wanted to go the whole hog and have rows/beds of veggies..hence the 2nd plot. I still have lots of digging and clearing to do on the second one but I enjoy every second of doing it...I even got very excited when I got a load of fresh manure delivered and was happy as larry shoveling s#*t on to the plot!
The other plus is that I got a super suntan this year!

Ooooh - learning all the time - I thought OTGF meant on the gardening front - a throwback perhaps to the old gardening board that I never knew. and dedicated to proper gardening- now I know!!Good luck with your allotments, hope you have lots of luck. PA

Logging off now cos I have work tomorrow - on a gardening theme - went to Nursery today and was restrained- bought pansies and Lily of the Valley pips to add to collection- tempted by Red Robin and Mahonia but held fire - speak soon -PA
Hi Princess. First of all I was Sheila G. but then the board wouldn't accept that so tonight I have re registered as SheilaGa. No,your message didn't annoy me,i just thought I was missing something. No telling off. I also was merry Monarda, but then that wouldn't be accepted, and that's when I changed to SheilaG Am I confusing you. I am not the merryM that was on OTGF,as I have never sent a message on that board. Have had a glass of wine or two tonight,so if you are confused that's my excuse!
Hello Rhodadendron. Top of the class I was meryMonarda. But not the one from OTGF,as I have only read messages on there, but never sent any. I have just changed to SheilaGa tonight as I was not being recognised. This board is very odd at times. What ade you think I was Merrymonarda anyway?

At the top of each post it says something like
Message 30 posted by Princessanabana December 1st.
If you click on the underlined name (in this case princessanabana) it lists all the postings you have contributed to on these boards. If you have changed your name it changes all the post names retrospectively. So I knew that SheilaG was Merrymonarda because when she changed her name to SheilaG it changed all her posts including the first ones she put on the board in the name of Merrymonarda. When you click on SheilaGa (a couple of posts above this one) the posting history is not the same as that for SheilaG - therefore it is not the same person (unless they have created a whole new login for themselves). Other than that the original SheilaG/Merrymonarda can spell properly and seems like a very sensible person who is unlikely to have posted the above.
Elementary my dear Princessanabana
Actually I do have a slight worry about being able to see peoples whole posting history and what other boards they contribute to. People may not want to share that knowledge with everyone.

The boy bit is just a guess - but there is something wrong with the footie boards and when that happens you get board invasions. This used to happen on the old boards - some of the invasions were quite funny but most were just tedious. THe science and nature board got most invaded because the people on there were very easily wound up.
You are not SheilaG you are a very naughty boy!Ìý
Hi again. I am not male, truly. I am definitely female. You can ask my husband. On the old message board I was Sheila Gardler. Does that ring any bells? What makes you think I'm male?

I'm sorry but you can't possibly be Sheila Gardler because that would mean admitting I was wrong.

OTGF=Back to LL - are you watchng tonight - who do you want to win now - stil JS? Think S might tip it... hopr you had a nice day. PA
Well Princess WHAT a final..thought they were all fantastic! Loved that they bought back all the funny one's from the audition's too. Sorry to see JS go out 3rd but knew that Shane would win, brilliant version of 'Over the Rainbow' he is extremely talented and I think he will be around for a long time. Can't wait for the next series...I love watching the auditions and the judges face's (it's the best bit really!)
