Hi Elaine;
Read somewhere on another thread that you got the steel mesh you used in your GOTY garden from Jewson. I'm looking for something along this line to make a screen for growing climbers up, but it needs to be pliable to fit around the curved end of the lawn. How did you find the mesh in terms of ease of use? Is it fairly flexible and easy to fix in a circular shape? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give, Jez.
Dear Jez,
That mesh was amazing, I decided to use it without really knowing how pliable etc it would be. It was like a dream.....
Further down our garden we fixed it with fencing staples to an upright we had cemented in the ground,We routed a grove in the upright and cut off the end of the mesh so we had a vertical steel left. Then just pushed it into a curve made sure it was level, and pushed into the ground and stapled again.
I was so impressed with it, I would never use trellis again. It was so cheap as well, I think Jewsons (who we found the cheapest) it's £11 + VAT a sheet, of 3.6m X 2.4m X 10mm.
It is in fact flexible enough to make a column, but is still fairly strong, a young child can climb it, but I wouldn't recommend an adult....
Hope this helps anyway
Dear Elaine;
Thanks for that, sounds great. I assume 10mm refers to the diameter of the steel used. How big is each square in the mesh - 100mm, 150mm, 200mm; or do Jewson do different sizes? I've had a look on their website but can't find any specifics on this product.
Thanks again for your advice. Jez.
