I am amazed to find that my tulips planted on 5th November, for the spring watch tulip trial are poking through the ground already, I live in Swansea and my garden faces south towards the sea. It is bitterly cold today and I'm sure there will be a frost tonight, I just hope this does not damage them, but I don't know if by the rules I'm allowed to cover them. I think I'll take a chance and put a newspaper on top. Anyone else seen signs yet?

Yes, I've seen signs as well. I don't think the frost can harm your tulips. We will get frost the whole week, by the end of the week even at daytime.I'm doing nothing to protect them.
    Good luck with the tulips.
