Posted this last week but no sign in messages. could someone please, please tell me an easy way to get rid on an invasion of mimulas on my garden. They have taken over my water garden and other than dig the whole lot up I'd like to find an easier way.

Hi - sadly I can't help you but have you thought of posting your question on the Garden Clinic board- perhaps not everyone reads the TV board? Just a thought - PA
I think I might have a similar problem. A plant appeared in the flat stomes around the edge of my pond. It turned out to be a Mimulus and although very pretty it is spreading quite well. I will dig up as much as I can, particularly the bits that are very close to the water but may try a herbicide(Roundup) with great care to avoid any going into the pond. However, this will be as a last resort because the use of herbicides near to ponds is to be avoided unless you don't mind the risk of killing all the pond plants.
You lucky lot. I planted a whole bunch of these a couple of years ago and they didn't like the cold so all died out. Surely it can't be that hard to yank out the excess?
If there was an easy way to get some to Belgium you could have some with pleasure. I am unlikely to use hebicide but it has grown underneath all the flat stones in the sand I placed over the pond liner. You lucky lot. Don't worry. they're easy to find here. They just don't do in my garden.

Thanks for the tip. I don't have plants in my pond so roundup might work?

Hi - I am fairly new myself - 3 months! It is just that there are 4 boards here, one for TV, one for allotments, one called Garden Clinic and the fouth called Garden Design. I just thought you might get more replies from people reading Garden Clinic but they obviously read Garden TV as well , so happily you got your replies. Regards - PA
