Have you noticed how the Robins are behaving? Despite the cold weather down here in southern softy Buckinghamshire all the male Robins have Spring on their minds, displaying to females and fighting with their rivals. Only a few weeks ago I could have up to five of them waiting in a patient circle as I dug and now only the area dominant stays. Last Monday as the temperature crept to the heady heights of 5 or 6 celcius one male regaled us with full song after he had fed his fill.

Yes have noticed the same here with the robins. I have a pair that chase any other robins that care to get in their way. Including the poor solitary Blackcap, he is feeding up on bacon fat and suet, I just hope he finds a mate closeby and doesn't leave.
Also have a pair of Bluetits taking up residence in the nest box, so yes, love is definitely in the air!!

Yep Bluetits often start early and may be lose the first brood - Great tits too - I reckon I've already seen one flying with grub in beek but don't fancy the chicks chances this week.

Bit early for your Blackcap Mizzy and you'll be lucky if you ever see his Mrs., cos unless you've an enormous patch for a garden sex will win out over bacon fat every time and he'll be off into the undergrowth.

Not so long ago I used to feel the same smiley - devilsmiley - smoochsmiley - devil
