Just wondered if the ´óÏó´«Ã½ plans to show a tribute this year as this August is the 10th aniversary of the gardening god Geoff Hamilton's sad death, I've had a look on the Barnsdale site & they are holding a garden party in his memory whicj I thought was a nice idea,
Geoff you are still sorely missed,

It would be nice, but I some how doubt it. When you think how popular geoff hamilton is i'm surprised they have not repeated some of his programmes. I have just watched Cottage gardens on video and i'm totally inspired, will certainly raise a glass to him on the day.

Yes I've recently bought copies of the Cottage & Paradise gardens videos & the book of the ornamental kitchen garden, these are outstanding & I am also surprised the ´óÏó´«Ã½ do not repeat them even if it was during the week in the afternoon (´óÏó´«Ã½2) they aren't like the arty farty series what are on now, good honest practical advice that does not cost you the earth, I have enjoyed watching the old GW episodes recently

I know it doesn’t make me unique in any way, but I've always been in awe of the great Geoff Hamilton.
To hear a bad word or even the mildest criticism of him is practically unknown; what a wonderful legacy for anyone to leave behind.

Yes! Let's mark the first decade of his untimely death in a way suitable to reflect the love & respect felt by all gardeners.

I think the only people who complained about him were non gardeners complaining of what he used to wear!!!!!! my god what do they expect people to wear when they're gardening Top Hat & Tails!!!!!!

Is it true he was buried in his jeans & boots?

Don't know what he was buried in. I would love to see some of his garden programmes televised as a tribute to such a great gardener. "Best Bits" or something, although that would have to be a long programme.

I think it would be great to do repeat one of his series - we know the ´óÏó´«Ã½ are not above doing repeats smiley - winkeye

I came to gardening through Geoff Hamilton and Bob Flowerdew and I think it is worth them doing a programme; I have just heard the repeat of LInda's special on the news quiz and am still reeling from that news as well. Please mods, can you pass this on as a good idea? Thanks, hifi

Hello, I loved Geoff Hamilton on GW- he was an inspiration!! As an aside my family really take the mickey out of me for my gardening footwear - an old pair of trainers with string laces (tied in a bow ,of course). They are only tied in the middle so that I can slip them on and off quite easily- they are also very comfortable!!!!

Yes, he was indeed buried in his boots, i read about it in the book "Geoff Hamilton a man and his garden"
He was a truly marvellous person, such a knowledgeable gardener and so humerous and down to earth. He is sadly missed by us all.

I can remember going to work the day after he passed away and hearing about it on the radio. I was totally devasted. He was my absolute idol and his brilliant "Cottage Garden" video inspired me to create my own, which was subsequently admired by everyone who paid me a visit!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ´óÏó´«Ã½, pay a tribute to him and lets have a lengthy programme celebrating the life of the God of gardening!

It is very sad Margi - I had no idea she was so ill, I mostly saw her on TV in Have I Got News For You and QI - a very witty, funny and down to earth lady. Nice to read that you have met her though.

Not about gardening but spotted this in the thread about Bring Back a Geoff Hamilton series. Just wanted to add my sorry on the death of Linda Smith. I found her very entertaining, not resorting to swearing and cruel jibes for a cheap laugh. I think she'll be very much missed, on Radio and TV. I'm on 'Listen Again' to the News Quiz as I type this. smiley - rose I'm sure there's a special msg board for this so apologies to all the gardeners! Heigh ho .. oops, HI ho.
