    Hi
I was reading in Amateur Gardener about 2 TV shows - one shown In Northern Ireland with John Cushnie and one shown In Scotland.
They feature a proper garden but seem to be very practical - with a focus on local conditions.
Given that the ´óÏó´«Ã½ do show regional programmes, why can't we have similar programmes to these two for every ´óÏó´«Ã½ region? They can't be expensive to make - they would be tailored to a specific area - and as the Beeb has to produce progs for the regions anyway they would not interfere with schedules.
    Do people agree??
Do people who live in NI and Scot think these progs are worthwhile?
    Thanks

I'm pinging this because I really am interested in what you think.
Come on you residents of Northern Ireland and Scotland - let us know if it's worth lobbying for !!

This sounds a great idea. Oop 'ere in t'north we are at least a couple of weeks, weatherwise, behind the "soft south" so it would be great to see a programme which would be appropriate for our waether conditions.

I live in Northern Scotland and I am an Avid watcher of Beechwood Gardens. The Show for Scotland. It is produced in Aberdeen, is presented by a very good, time served gardener, Jim McColl and has lots of information for us Northern gardeners. But I don't see why people in the midlands and south would need their own show. GW is geared for you.

But what about the arid plains of East Anglia -or the warm wetness of Cornwall? GW coming from the Brum area is atypical as it is so far from any coast.

This is very true since many of us live in costal areas. It is a peculiar problem. Cornwall is warm and wet.. we are cold and wet. I reckon that this year we are at least a month behind everybody else. I just spotted the first daff in my garden to be brave enough to bloom yesterday!! I think the Sou-westerlys are a problem to us all and would like to see some novel ideas for wind protection.

Ironically, on the south coast in the south west, the easterlies are the big problem - and never more so than this winter and early spring just past!
