    Hi
Well after all the breathless anticipation ( and that was just MD!!) GW is back - what did we all think of the first show?
As a self confessed MD non-fan I must say that I was pleasantly surprised.
I like the idea of the 3 new gardens, but feel there is too much emphasis on various "trials" - they're always doing them!!
    What do you think??

Sometimes less is more. A bit more time on fewer items and more Carol, less Monty (breathless is the operative word!).

I enjoyed the programme, far more than I expected to. Not keen on veg though, and certainly don't like these "trial" jobs. Not a Monty fan but like the others, especially Carol Klein. What will next week bring? Hi

I'm not keen on veg either - nor the overkill on test-trials.
    Looking forward to pond though

Hurray its back! Its been far too long.Loved the show...not so sure chillies deserved so much time, monty was his usual self... very distinguished, and yummy.I am more interested in the veg than in previous years as I am starting my own allotment this year instead of working with others, so I have to succeed on my own this year.It was great that it was an hour long, it always should be, I think to cover the varied interests of us gardeners. Ive got cable so I have watched it twice already and will watch it again before friday probably, (theres never anything good on when I finally sit down) Long live GW smiley - smiley

Loved the slot on asters (an old piece) because it went in-depth on a particular plant, gave expert insight and left me wiith lots of ideas for planting. It's a hard job trying to please everybody and sometimes you just end up irritating everyone. But these are my points:

Joe Swift always has a machine in his hands. Is he a gardener or a DIY man (like when you see Charlie Dimmock involved in designing a garden - you know there's a 'water feature' in boxes waiting to be unpacked)?

The three gardens are good. It will give them a chance to show how planting can be designed around different conditions.

    Chillis were interesting.

    That's it.

A good start to the new series.........
I particularly enjoyed the veggie bits, especially as I have just taken on an allotment and would greatly appreciate that being a regular feature.
Wasn't fussed about the Chillies - but I guess somebody else was pleased with it.
Glad it was an hour - believe it always should be.
Like the idea of the 3 gardens, and just hope that none of them will be a jungle one.
So all in all a promising start.
