I thought thast this may be of interest to people. I have an allotment in Chorley, Lancashire, crossehallallotmentsociety.co.uk. A good idea for a cheap and FREE water butt is to ask your local council for out of service wheelie bins, they make excellent water butts and are free of charge.
You can even leave the wheels on and are great for cleaning out too. They can also be used for potato planting!

Bit big though. We already have two big bins, bottle bank and plastic sack for paper.
