This evening I did something that I rarely do - I turned off Gardeners' World. Spring is upon us - a time for preparing and planting vegetables and what do we get? Flower borders, replanting daffodils - I soon gave up as there was no mention in the introduction about vegetables.

I thoight that the programme, back in March, on allotments, was great. Very disappointed since.

Looking at other posts, you can't please all of the people all of the time!

I was tempted to turn off, but stuck with it, although briefly Joe Swift threw a few veg seed in containers, didn't inspire me as he didn't look like he was enjoying it. He crammed a very large thick plastic bag in to a not so big terracotta pot, it looked a mess. (I would have used a black bin bag and trimmed it neatly around the edge), he also forgot to mention punching a few drainage holes. And that was it for veg! I still miss Geoff Hamilton and Alan Titchmarshes more philasophical way of doing things and I admired their care and attention. They always seemed to get the balance right too a visit to the veg plot and few chores in the flower garden. Save visits to other shows and allotments, national gardens for different gardening programmes altogether.

i could not agree more with your comments. I follow the sentiments of Bob Flowerdew, as i can't see the point of growing anything I can't eat. I am not interested in Gladioli or primroses or any other flower, and feel frustrated that the vegetable section recieves so little air time. According to MD more people bought vegetable seeds than flower seeds in 2005. Why therefore do GW persist in not changing with the times. Who has the inclination or literally the space to copy those hideous long borders!?

Maybe it's time the ´óÏó´«Ã½ did a programme dedicated to veggie growing?
As far as I'm aware they have only two gardening programmes Gardeners' World and Gardeners' Question Time. These hardly reflect the multi-million garden industry which has, so we're told, mushroomed(!) over the past few years.

The ´óÏó´«Ã½ are in the process of doing a veggie programme to be screened next year, following the fortunes of first time growers hosted by Carol Kline and also filmed in the RHS gardens, so be patient your time will come...

Oh dear. Kill joy comes to mind. You just can't please all the people all the time. I'm sure there will be plenty of air time given over to veg in future programmes. There is a lot to be getting on with in the flower garden as well at this time of year.
