On tonight's Edible Garden, Alys was doing a flower and leaf transfer to fabric...does anyone know what it's called?? Absolutely stunning.
Hapazome
I tried it out with some 8 year olds in a gardening club I run - we used a rolling pin instead of a hammer - and it was a great success.
They tried French marigolds, individual pansy petals (lovely velvety deep red shades), dandelions and cherry blossom. As you might think, the oranges and reds worked best; the dandelions were a bit too bulky, and the cherry blossom very faint. The kids loved the bashing, and it was good for them to have something to take home and keep, apart from the seeds they had sown in pots.
Thanks for that, Alys!
What fabric did you use?
An old cotton pillowcase, cut into strips.
i am going to try this too - lovely results. hope mine look as good.
The ones I've had best results with so far are bellis - the bedding ones, not the lawn ones. The deep reds have produced some fab prints.
