Just record it and watch it on fast forward, you only waste 4 minutes of your life. Toby looks bigger on fast forward.
Congratulations to our very own Trillium and team in winning a Silver Gilt for a lovely back-to-back garden for the birds, and for a good complimentary piece about it on tonight's coverage.
Would you believe I missed it! Too busy chatting to my parents who are up for a few days and didn't think it was on so early. Will have to wait for iplayer and download it.
Enjoyed today - garden looking better by the hour as it's settling down. So many lovely comments. Of course a silver-gilt is very good. And I have just about got over the judges feedback - apparently they couldn't figure out how they were supposed to get into the tea room to buy an ice-cream. Had I put a sign up with an arrow pointing round the back it would have made all the difference to their judgement. No kidding....
Congratulations to Trillium! Saw the garden on NW News - looked wonderful! It should have been GOLD!
Congratulations, Trillium!
Glad to see that all your hard work has been rewarded. And take no notice of silly judging comments, a silver-gilt is really tremendous, and still gives you something to aim for next year.
xx
...to Trillium as well and I would think difference between silver guilt and gold is down to personal judges preference.
Be interested to hear your thoughts Trillium on the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s coverage versus what was at the show-good reflection or light weight and poor. I must confess I was cringing a bit with CK again last night. If she had done one more slow motion flower smelling routine I would have gone spare!!!.I thought the whole idea was for a programme to give the viewer an idea of the SHOW not some "beach motivation" or "hydrangea cultivation" etc do it in another programme.
He he. I like the bits when Carol was smelling flowers - well actually what amused me was the way she had to reach up to smell something, when I remembered bending over to smell the same thing at the show only a few hours earlier. Trust me, I am no giant, Carol is just very very tiny.
Trillium, that's bonkers!! Did they have the decency to look a bit embarrassed when they were offering you that bit of feedback? Never mind, your garden is absolutely lovely and certainly gold standard. And lovely to see you again too.
One gold winning garden that mystified me a bit was the one with the tree ferns and hammock - and tiny little bananas planted under everything. Is there some new variety of teeny banana that I don't know about? Because in my garden Ensete grow very fast and very big and really wouldn't be any use for under-planting under anything (except maybe even bigger bananas).
Sue, (Trillium)
Well done a wonderful idea well executed and deserved more. Still you got a medal for your effort so not wasted.
Frank.
I went on Thursday and really liked the garden too, shame about the bizarre judges' comments!
Thanks all of you. I took the garden apart yesterday and am having a much needed quiet day today.
Show gardening is unbelievably hard work, but wonderful fun and a superb opportunity to meet people and share ideas. And you never know who is going to turn up and say hi...
