i really like Carol Klein, presenting style, and the fact she goes in more depth , I would love to see her have her own show , if any else has any feeling about this please post here
Have to disagree with your views....sorry.
No doubt about Carols expert gardening knowledge but as for presenting skills far too over the top, far too gushy, lacking in credibility and after the first five minutes quite irritating. As discussed on these boards many times before not sure if this is the "real" CK on view or the result of overenthusiastic and unwarranted direction but either case , as it stands, not for me.
I totally agree with you Mister grow it all. I think she is great. She is not over the top at all. I think she is passionate about her gardening skills and so her enthusiasm comes through. Would certainly watch GW if she was the presenter.
Hi mister-grow-it-all.
Have you seen Carol presenting the programme about people who want to show their gardens in the Yellow Book? It was repeated recently. She is good in that; helpful and knowledgeable. I like it because it shows gardens at different stages of development and shows what the Yellow Book criteria are.
I would say that niche programmes like this are Carol's forte.
Summer
Welshcol - It's diversity of opinion that makes the world go around I suppose.
Having said that, I find it difficult to comprehend how someone who would extol the virtues of Christine Walkden would make such comments about Carol K.
They both know their stuff ( CK more than CW in my opinion) but they are both far too theatrical and gushy to be a lead presenter.

klein should have been given the helm at gardeners world... 3 minutes per episode is an insult to her talent.

3 minutes per episode is an insult to her talent. I agree
Carol is an inspiration, excellent presenting skills with the knowledge to back it up. I will not buy a plant know without thinking how I can propagte it and thats down to Carol
I agree 2000%, so long as dont go back to hyperactive giggling we saw in one of the specials last year
no proviso allowed!
Carol reads these messageboards (as I expect do the other presenters) as she mentioned in 'garden news' about one member being surprised about the blighted foliage potato crop being alright if the foliage is cut off immediately so the spores don't get to the potatoes.
So, mind your peas and cues (cucumbers).
I think Carol is great.
Please ignore previous posts!!!.
To my fairly certain knowledge all the presenters and key personnel review these boards.
When we speak largely as one without resorting to personal comments, the programme responds as we have seen over and over again in the past year especially.
A few weeks ago I mentioned that Toby's thoroughly nice personality wasn't coming through and it felt stiff and over-scripted. Two weeks later we got the newly relaxed Toby, chatting in his own way. Probably a coincidence....

I so agree, I always wish that Carol could be given more time on the programme. No wonder she has to gush, she managed to educate and inspire me about plants in the gladioli family (Dame Edna take note)in minutes, I had no idea they could be so diverse, thank you Carol.
I've really appreciated Carol's slot on plant families and have learned a lot, as with her series on propagating. I look forward to more of both but maybe just a bit less gushing. It must be wearing talking like that and I can't believe it's a natural manner that she sustains all day.
I have a friend who gushes like Carol 24/7. Never stops. She know a lot about plants as well, her husband sold their collection of Encyclopedia Britannia as she knows everything.
I'm lucky enough to have met Carol and she dosn't 'gush' normally, it seems she goes into 'gush' mode as soon as the cameras start to roll. Someone must have told her to be more enthusiatic!! It is off-putting and I wish she would be more natural, she has such a lot of valuable information to impart.
She is such a compulsive gardener. I met her filming for Open Gardens and instead of just sitting waiting her turn to be filmed I found her weeding and tidying my pot plants!!

.
I am sure your right and on the odd occasion normality and naturalism prevails she is great. I can stand the breathless enthusiasm for the current "speciality" short GW slots but for any longer I just want to start breathing for her and cant relax to enjoy and take in what she is saying. I do wish someone she trusts would tell her, it would significantly help her on-screen presentation.

Does anyone need to tell Carol how to present herself? If we go down that road we'll end up with GW presented by Nick Clegg. Just relax and enjoy the fact that she has a different style from you. She knows when to breathe, for heaven's sake. It's extraordinarily presumptuous to patronize her like that!

I think any "customer" has a every right to comment or complain when a presenter who is paid by the license fee, which I and you pay for, has in the persons belief a shortcoming, for whatever reason, in their job. A presenter is supposed to inform in an eloquent and engaging manner i would have thought so if that is not being achieved then the presenter is at fault. You could have the worlds best gardener in terms of qualifications, design etc etc who cannot communicate at all. Hence a poor presenter. Presenting is a skill not a right hence constructive, not personality induced, criticism and comment.

mister-grow-it-all, I love Carol's presenting style too. I love her enthusiam and the way she inspires me. Last night's programme really raised my spirits. Just what we need for a dark and dismal January day.

I liked it, I like her generally, (squealing aside) she certainly knows her stuff and does it all herself and if you never knew about propagating you must surely now she does love the practice and the art.
What I did find particularly gratifying was to finally get an idea about all the parts of her garden and it's lay out, I've previously been a bit disorientated and yearned for an overview.
I loved last night's programme - truly entertaining and informative Can't wait for the rest of the series
I totally agree daydaisy, she is an inspiration and I for one can't wait to get outside and start digging!
Couldn't agree more !! What an excellent, informative, down-to-earth and practical programme. Carol manages to explain things simply, without being condescending. I am really looking forward to the rest of the series and would love it if she was on all through the year.

I totally agree. Carol's great and half an hour is not long enough!
I love her enthusiasm, and her earrings! Where do you get them Carol?
We mostly assume that Carol WANTS to host a gardening show permanently, but maybe she's happy to do what she does for the ´óÏó´«Ã½, Chelsea etc and spend the rest of her time in her cottage garden?!
Greetings Tulip
....and would love it if she was on all through the year.Â
So would I!

True, of course; but, isn't it the most natural thing to think that your fervent wishes cannot be different from those of the person(s) you like or answer some of your needs?
Do you remember these lines from that beautiful song:
I thought you'd want what I want
Sorry, my dear....
