    ..... albeit on Celebrity Mastermind.

There's been a dearth of gardening programmes on tv over the Christmas holidays. Just a repeat of the Prince Charles/AT at Highgrove as far as I could see.

Let's hope 2011 will be better

Happy New Year and Good Gardening to all the Message Boarders.

    Pete
(If I could send a picture it'd be a glass of bubbly. Cheers.)

I'll try and see it, Pete-Free. Best wishes for 2011 and I hope the champers works as well as the normal stuff on the compost heap.

Oh dear, poor Toby...not his finest hour. Came last with his specialist subject & his general knowledge was a bit suspect..

Toby did quite well with his specialist subject - it was his general knowledge which let him down smiley - sadface

Toby got 22 points - a good score and enough to win some of the Masterminds I have seen. I admire anybody brave enough to sit in that chair and of course it was for charity too. I thought it was rather odd that the archivist for Queen was allowed to have Queen as his specialist subject. No wonder he won.

    Thanks Joe!

I take my hat off to Tobes who got a respectable 22 points. He's a braver man than I.

The competition was stiff, with Adam Bolton getting 27 in total, Kirstan O'Brian 24 and Reece Thomas an outstanding 36.

Toby was introduced by John Humphrys as Presenter of Gardener's World though so it must have been recorded before the changes.

Carol Klein's new programme - 6 episodes - sounds unmissable. Starts on Friday, 7 Jan at 8.30 pm.

I wonder how many episodes of GW Monty is contracted to do and if it'll continue to be pushed aside for the likes of Wimbledon, Athletics, Snooker, Uncle Tom Cobley and all.

We live in the hopes of better scheduling in 2011 Auntie.

    Hello Miss-polly

I'm no expert but the newspaper, reviewing it at the weekend said about
Life in a Cottage Garden starting 7 Jan on ´óÏó´«Ã½2 at 8.30 pm:

"When you live intimately with your garden" says Carol Klein, "its story becomes endlessly fascinating". In this new six-part series the Gardeners' World presenter takes viewers on a year-long journey through her own north Devon plot, a wilderness of old cars and sheds when Klein arrived there three decades ago, but now a rich world of plants and trees.

Taking death, growth and rebirth as her themes, things in her January garden are brown and austere, but Klein propogates her enthusiasm effortlessly, ensuring the viewer is seeded with the desire to plant garlic and pot primroses. Slowly, hellebores bloom, hedges are laid and spring starts to creep in. Whether she is clambering up ladders or digging up roots, Klein is a fabulous role model, proof that gardening can be exhilirating. "I love my garden", she says, in case anyone is in doubt".

Sounds promising? I think so. Six weeks of Carol takes us to February 11th so maybe we'll see Monty's new series on Italian Gardens following on before his new Gardeners World series starts in March?

Perhaps the hosts can please enlighten us on how ´óÏó´«Ã½'s tv gardening schedule is shaping up for the season now we're in 2011?
