2011 CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW TV coverage - Alan or Monty?
With Alan now starting a new "prime-time" ITV1 gardening (and lifestyle) programme, should he be ditched from the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s 2011 coverage (I wonder if the decision has been made already?) in favour of the mighty Monty?
I wonder if the RHS will switch to ITV1 after the ´óÏó´«Ã½ contract runs out. If I was I betting man....Evens".
Oh, ´óÏó´«Ã½! Ditch the non-gardenwers on CHELSEA coverage; Jennie Bond, and the like. The coverage has become too "comfortable" and "predictable". The RED BUTTON coverage is dull as dish-water too.
´óÏó´«Ã½'s Exceutives should consider "repeating" GW on ´óÏó´«Ã½1 (not ´óÏó´«Ã½2) on Sundays as if COUNTRYFILE has been regenerated with a new scheduling time then maybe GW could benefit from the same.

Should AT be ditched in favour of the mighty Monty? Absolutely not. Can you imagine the outcry? Its been bad enough on here with some people sniping that Monty isn't a real gardener. To my knowledge Monty hasn't ever showed at Chelsea whereas AT designed a Chelsea gold medal winning garden in 1985 and has the Victoria Medal of Honour awarded by the RHS Council along with his RHS training and employment record as pretty impressive credentials to qualify him for the job - and he does the presenting thing very well too.
It will be a sad day if the RHS sell out to ITV1. Just think about all those ghastly adverts. A move to Channel 4 would be a better option but then the presenters would forever look to one side of the camera and never talk directly to us again.
Love the red button coverage.

Countryfile has benefited from Matt Baker and Julia Bradbury who have been accredited with raising the ratings. Since moving to ´óÏó´«Ã½1 the show has also received complaints that it has been dumbed down with items that aren't strictly about countryside issues. Given that GW has suffered from complaints of dumbing down under Toby's stewardship, a move to ´óÏó´«Ã½1 would be unwise.

AT will be presenting again this year -
As he has so many horticultural accolades, is a high profile member of the RHS, is president of Plant heritage and an excellent presenter to boot, I can't see the RHS allowing the Beeb to change their lead presenter for a while, and I can't see the Beeb wanting to, not if they have any sense.
