In the light of todays cuts in expenditure everywhere, would it not be possible to repeat some of the old Geoff Hamilton Gardeners World programmes? I am not just talking about Ornamental Kitchen Garden etc which are available to buy on DVD, but how about digging out some other ones out of the bowels of the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s archives and using them? Mr Hamilton was held in such high esteem, and rightly so, and I am sure that many of us gardeners would be only too thrilled to see him in action again. If the programme selectors are unsure about trying this, how about putting it to the test and showing the programmes during the day to guage the response and popularity to see if it could be worthwhile showing at more popular times?

This has been suggested over and over on here. However it would clearly show the deficiencies with the current production crew and the presenter, so it is never going to happen.
I had a lot of GW and Garden Time on VHS tape and have converted them to AVI so that I can now store them on the computer. I also have GW on disc for the last 5-6 years apart from last years debacle.

To be honest my favourite is Garden Time (I run into Howard Drury now and again) and I do wish that ITV would re-run it on one of their digital channels. What was funny as far as I can remember they used to show it at tea time during the children's programmes.

However much revered the sainted Geoff Hamilton is (by me included) I don't think it is a good policy to go back in time, things must move forward & progress.

Quite frankly, Aunty has an equally inspirational & respected gardener/presenter in our own Carol Klein, who should (IMHO) be on our screens more frequently.

Let's just treasure the memories of Geoff.

There was a brief article on page 149 of the March 2011 edition of 'Garden' - the house magazine of the RHS - which mentioned that "a reissue of video clips (ie. they have been issued before) of the late Geoff Hamilton in his garden, including extracts from Gardeners' World is now available on DVD". The profits will support a bursary at Whittle College. Details can be obtained from info@barnsdalegardens.co.uk

thanks for the info, i have been trying to track down dvds of any old GW programs obviously without success as they dont exist. but having come to gardening late in life i have missed out on a lifetime of knowledge and would love to see GW from day one! i could sift through cultural/time changes well enough myself if given the chance. i wonder if the ´óÏó´«Ã½ would consider at least a 'best of' DVD

Yes I, like you Ted, came into gardening quite late in life after living in Australia for many years and I missed the wonderful programmes featuring GH.
I have the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Geoff Hamilton Collection boxed set (about £10.00 from amaz) which includes Cottage Gardens, Paradise Gardens and The Ornamental Kitchen Garden. Hours of wonderful viewing and highly recommended if you havnt seen them. I can never get enough of him so any other recordings available would be great. What amazes me when he goes about his projects is the very little editing that seems to be done. So smooth and just perfect!
Yes a "Best of" would be great provided it is not just a duplicate of the above.
