So disappointed to hear overpowering incidental music this week. GW is the highlight of my viewing week spoiled this evening by jaunty, intrusive noise (in my opinion). Perhaps I had the volume too loud, perhaps I'm an old fogey.

There was music? Can't say I notice it.

I always notice the bird song wether its Carols garden or Mr Dons or Italian gardens like it better then the music..
I know the ´óÏó´«Ã½ are looking at ways viewers can de-select the music via the digital services, apparently its one of there biggest viewers moans about all types ofprogrammes....Case of Marmite syndrome.

Music was so fleeting (although still annoying) it wasn't worth the effort, in which case, why did they both at all?
My biggest shock was when Monty swore! I know gardeners can often get frustrated some times at what Mother Nature throws at us, but it doesn't justify swearing, especially on a program like GW. Let's keep the muck in the ground, not coming out of the presenter mouth!

Monty swore!!!?
No way what did he say??
as for the music.....maybe the beeb should think outside the box, maybe incorporate some modern popular music like kurt kobain or East 17??

Call me a prude, but he used the B word (the one ending in "y"), which in my view is still a profanity, regardless of what popular culture might think. In fact, the advertising standards authority also considered it rude when they banned an Australian Tourist Board advert which included the word, so I'm not alone.
Even if it is used widely now (like Harry Potter where Ron Weasily uses it every second sentence), it is in my view offensive, and especially so when it comes out from a TV gardening programme.

I agree with Mr Burr. I think its shocking that Monty should use that kind of language before the water shed.
he should be setting an example to viewers.
out if interest what provoked this shocking outburst?

I find "music" spoils many prog. why do gardening programs need any?
Can't we just hear normal background noise?
I Watched a 3 nighter , Exile, on ´óÏó´«Ã½1 it was violent , had swearing, it was explicit and it had the most horrendous background noise.
I only kept watching it for the excellent acting. the portrayal of a man suffering with Alzheimer's was heartbreakingly real.

I am watching the last programme again and started to listen out for the music after reading this thread, well the original poster is right and if you watch the segment when he first goes into the maze (lots of music) an the section that follows it (ice house) there is no music...
Well you choose which you prefer, the programme realy doesn't need it in my opinon the bird song is enough.

I've heard a rumour that the presenters will be wearing tutu's soon, hence the music! (Joke)
As for the swearing, how on earth can bloody be classed as a swear word when the F word and C word are used so much on TV nowadays. I draw the line at the C word and hence don't watch 'comedians' like Jimmy Carr.

Lighten up guys - you moan, moan, moan about everything. Gardeners World has changed to what you wanted - can we have a few nice things for us younger viewers? All you do is MOAN about the show and it's annoying me, please, STOP.
Zamiaceae I hope that's a joke, you are only 20 years out of date...

I thoroughly agree with this person. The music was intrusive, totally irrelevant and therefore unnecessary. This is becoming a common complaint about many programmes and it is about time producers started paying attention to viewers comments on this subject.
Yes, Monty did swear and yes, is was surprising that he did so. I heard it but it was a fleeting moment. Probably it should have been edited out. Just because such words are in so called "common usage", it doesn't mean they should be heard on TV.
Perhaps I am an old fogey too but I still feel bad language of any sort by any person is unwarranted.

I confess that I too was bewildered by the music - it just didn't seem appropriate, and certainly achieved nothing other than to provide irritation. However, I smiled at the adjective, and am a wee bit disappointed that we couldn't just let it pass without criticism. I'm even wondering why this word is regarded as a swear word, as there seems to be no unsavoury connotation attached to it - although my naivety may be showing. However, I'm fairly certain GW will continue to be shown before the watershed.
