I have noticed that Monty Don never appears in the ´óÏó´«Ã½ coverage of Chelsea, despite the fact that both his predecessors as presenters of Gardeners' World do, as do his co-presenters (Rachel, Joe and Carol). Is that in fact the difficulty? is there some reason why Monty Don does not want to appear with Alan and Toby?
I believe he doesn't like Chelsea and won't go. Malvern, Tatton and GW Live are more to his liking.
Has the Don every won a gold medal at Chelski?
Hard to win if you don't show there.

Well I may not be popular for saying this but I only went to Chelsea Flower Show once and was bitterly disappointed compared with many other shows I have both visited and exhibited at over the years.
I found it very overcrowded with appalling toilet facilities, no where to rest or eat comfortably and as we had travelled on a coach trip which parked in Battersea Park we decided to spend the rest of the day in Battersea Park which we enjoyed.
I attended the Gardeners World live at the NEC for many years which was a good show but my favourite was and remains Shrewsbury Show. What show would anyone else recommend?
Just to say - the loos at Chelsea are now excellent. Very clean, proper flushing loos with a rolling hand washing fountain. No problems in that department at all.
Southport Flower Show is great fun, they really pull the stops out and the show managment really support the exhibitors. Better for plants than show gardens though, the excesses of Chelsea are endearingly unique.

I intend to visit Malvern next year as it always looks lovely on TV so must put the date in my diary.
Well, I shall be exhibiting at both Tatton and Southport this year since both are on my doorstep, so I will hopefully see you both there.
First time show garden at Tatton, after four years of building back-to-backs :
And first time floral marquee at Southport FS.
Don't know which I'm most nervous about!
Coming to Tatton again on the Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing your garden. Iexpect that it will be a big change moving to a show garden from the back to backs.
Best of luck with it all.
