Having read this message board but never contributed I just wanted to ask where everyone gets their brown paper bags from to store seeds in.
I watch the gardening programmes you guys often discuss and am not critical of them but like any other programme on TV it's watched from either interest or for entertainment value.
I must say though I did enjoy the Chelsea Flower Show and the banter which goes on between the presenters on Beech Grove is entertaining, the fact they never know what something is going to turn out like after planting due to the Scottish climate is light hearted and having gardening friends who live in Scotland helps. Their approach inspires me to try new things after each episode.
GW seems very British and although I do enjoy it, haven't missed an episode on I player, I'm not so inspired after each episode. I like their take on viewing other gardens but, and I'm happy to be wrong there's not been alot of garden's in the NW most are not within a comfortable day's travelling distance of central England.
... but I transgress.. going back to the original message... and this is probably a poke at Carol..seeds must be collected in a brown paper bag...I tend to use white envelopes
Have you picked out any amusing things from this years gardening programmes you may have watched....

Zoomer go to any stationers and buy wages envelopes. GC should have seed envelopes.

You can buy 1000 small brown paper bags of the type Carol seems to use, for £5 on the internet.
Wage packs are good but getting harder t find, and you cannot put the seed head in them to shake the seeds out so well as they are rather small - bit like the wages they contain I guess!

I've also been wondering where to buy brown paper bags!

Brown paper bags-I keep any I get from buying vegetables/fruit from market stalls/local veg shops. I also use any envelopes that come with 'junk' mail, ok not brown but just as useful. I then store the dried seeds in used film canisters. Our local photo shop is a good supply of those. Tobacco tins also useful- if anybody still smokes a pipe. J.

I tried to give you information about where to get brown paper bags, but the message was thought to have broken the rules! Anyway, just look on the internet there are plenty of vendors, one of whom sells 1000 bags for just over £5. Hope you will fnd this useful.

Try supermarket mushroom bags - not plastic, definitely paper.
Or many market stallholders (greengrocers especially) do still use paper bags. Ask for a few extras, and as long as you're not too greedy, mostof them will oblige.

Interesting that you are allowed to mention Amazon but I was not allowed to mention the original vendor of these self same bags - who are selling them for half the price that Amazon is charging!

A friend told me this one lately. Not brown but paper bags all the same are those which the pharmacy put medication into. They're various sizes and very good.

I use chinese food plastic containers from my take away Tung Ching Whans Fong Ping of basildon Essex to put my runner beans seeds in. plus I put a Typhoo teabag from my Tesco superstore in as well to keep them dry and put them in the my Beko fridge which I purchased from Comet electrical.

When I get a parcels of kitchen gadgets and gizmos from Lakeland they always pad them with screwed up brown paper. When it's flattened out you can see it's made up of serated sheets. I roll it up and origami the sheets to form any size "envelope" to drop seeds into. I hate paying for anything .... apart from cupboards full of gizmos & gadgets that are hardly ever used. Ooo ... and a foot spa, as OH constantly reminds me whenever I want to try anything new on the market.
