Due to circumstances I have not spent the time on my allotment as I would have liked and the result is it is covered with weeds, which is stopping the growth of some veg.

I am going to clear it in the next few weeks, when the runner beans and marrows have finished.

When I do I am going to rotovate it and set it up for the winter to clear for next year. Should I cover it in the black weed control fabric rhen rotovate it and leave it open for the winter for the frost etc or should I rotovate then cover it in November time any advice would be apprecxiated. This year has been a dead loss as regards growing anything a lot of which is my fault.

Just to add I intend to apply glysophate weedkiller to the entire plot once all the veg is finished. That should be applied while there are weeds growing I believe rather than wait for the winter.

What I would do is to apply the weed killer now to clear the area-then rotovate it or whatever when the weeds have died down-dont see any point in covering weed control fabric during the winter as very few weeds will be growing-let the winter weather do its work then put fabric down next spring when you are ready to start again
    Does this help ?

Thanks to all for the advice. I will write this year off as a dead loss and prepare properly for next.
