Hi all, just a question I want to ask. Few weeks ago there were strong winds and one of my Jerusalem Artichock plant which I planted in a bucket, the stem got snap by the wind, I try to tie it back but unfortunately the steam didn't stay straight and after few days it bend again, so I had no choice but to remove it. It was broken about half the stem, I lifted the whole plant from the bucket and there are a lot of them the size of small gerkins, about four centimetres long by one centimetre round. I was wondering if they will swell and get bigger with only four feet long stem.

it all depends on whether you want to eat them this year or next year!

Having lost their foliage they may not do much more this year, but if you leave them in you may well have more tubers than you were expecting, and more plants too. It's your choice.

I am going to dig some out after about four years..... to see how many I have got and to tidy up, weed the bed! There will be plenty there! smiley - smiley

Begonia is similar in this garden, but I shan't be eating those!
