Hi does anyone know any cures or treatments for onion white rot? Ive heard there`s some dust that you can/could use, any help would be grateful.
There is a lot of research being done on this subject and a factor that has come up is to kid the disease into killing itself.
The gist of the idea is to spray an area with say a garlic based liquid this encourages the disease to think that alliums are present which there is not.
Apparently the disease dies off through not having a host plant to feed on or something to that affect.
I have heard of cases of digging in allium leaves to attract the spores to create a similar affect.
But to answer your question; currently there is NO cure for this disease.
Try googling the subject there is some interesting information out there.
A very ineresting idea TeeGee.
Having just suffered with this for the first time, what's this garlic based liquid. Is it just liquidised garlic? I have quite a few that are too small and fiddly for cooking. Cheers, Tony.

Didn`t expect an answer like that, was ready for all that keep clear for 8 year stuff.
I`ve got an old gardening book from the 70`s and it mentions dusting with some substance, any idea`s.
Thanks.
There is nothing legal for dusting to kill whiterot nowadays.
Have a look at this page for quantities of garlic for the garlic water treatment.
If you are quick, the ground may be still warm enough to try this treatment. I applied the garlic lotion several months ago to the ground that I am using to grow alliums in next year.
