This year I got the "grow your own bug" and I planted a container with some tomatoes and I am very happy with my first results but I am now unsure of what to do with the plants. Do they last year after year or do you have to dispose of them and re-start in the following year? If I can keep them, do I need to cut them back or just leave them?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Tomato plants are basically annuals meaning that they do their thing i.e.produce seed in in one season in the form of a seed filled fruit, namely the tomato.
This means you discard them at the end of the season and start again the following year.

Tee Gee,
Thank you so much for this advice. I really wasn't sure what to do and didn't want to dispose of the plants if not needed and I have hunted high and low for this answer.
Thank you so much.
