I live on the South Coast and have had a very successful first year on my allotment.
This morning I planted my garlic after which I had a chat with a fellow allotment holder. He said that I was too early planting garlic and that this should be done next month otherwise they will bolt.
When I purchased the garlic I was told to plant them in October. I am now in a quandary should I dig them up tomorrow and transplant next month.?
I would be grateful for any advice

Only hard neck varieties of garlic produce scapes(bolt). As they grow from between the cloves, it is not a problem for keeping the garlic, as would happen with onions.
You would normally nip out thehard neckk scapes and eat them, to grow the biggest garlic cloves.
