I recent removed some of the plants on a border and put in some bulbs and bulb of a peony but the cat using it as a toilet and also dug out the bulds. What can I do to make sure the bulds stay in? Some help will be very much appreciated.

I cut the bottom off flower buckets, bury them in the ground, and put bulbs within them before covering with compost, the rims are just showing but they could covered with soil to just below the surface, the cat doesn't dig there because she catches her paws on the rim of the pot.
Planting your bulbs this way also means they can be located after they've bloomed should you want to dig them up again.
Most local shops which sell flowers give the flower buckets away free.

You could try planting lilies.

Pam - I find upturned hanging baskets very effective. You have to peg them down in the soil with some wire to stop them being moved.

As well as wire baskets, i have used prunings from holly, pyracantha and other prickly things to protect bulbs in pots and in the garden, they still get enough light come spring, so I leave the twigs there till the shoots are well above them, by which time the squirrels leave them alone - however, not the pigeons, but that is another story altogether!

Agree about Holly prunings. Also use pea netting pegged over pots/bare soil. Stops cats & squirrels both. J.
