I've been looking to buy some pepper seeds.
For the past couple of years I've grown a variety of peppers in pots in the GH. The peppers have been fine, all be it a tad bit small and the plants haven't grown very tall.
I have seen them in a GH, grown in the beds and reaching a height of several feet with shop bought sized peppers on. When asked what the variety was the grower didn't know. They were growing in competition with toms and keeping their own as regards height.
Q is are there any varieties which grow taller than others and are more suited to a bed rather than pots or is it that the ones I've grown in pots were just small by virtue of what they were grown in.
To give you an idea of the size of my pepper plants in pots, they haven't grown much taller than chilli plants.
There are so many to choose from I tend to look for F1 varieties with the term "blocky" in there description.
Plus I prefer to grow them undercover in the greenhouse bed.
This is how I grow my crop
Oddly enough I get my best results from seeds I have saved from peppers I have purchased from the green grocers.
