I have suddenly obtained a sackful of parsnips - lovely! but as I live on my own I shall have to store them somehow (after giving many away). I can freeze some and use some, but can I store the rest in compost? I can either use homemade or shop bought, but the homemade is moist of course. Does anyone have an easy way? They can be stored in an unheated conservatory if that wouldn't be too warm. Many thanks and happy Christmas.

Hi there, I like to keep some for fresh so I use compost with sand added to it....all I do is put a layer of the mix then a layer of the parsnips and so on just end with a layer of mix on top, they will keep in a shed or in your conservatory so lone as it does not get to hot....don't let them touch each other when you lay them out as it helps to stop rot.

I also make soup out of them and freeze some cut up in to bits for stew and the like.

    Hope that help's...Happy xmas.
