Agretti anyone?

    Agretti. Has anyone grown this crop? Hints,tips, do's and don'ts please.

    Never grown it, but have seen it in Italy I think. Looks a bit like see weed, but is a land crop - I believe it is a bit bitter to taste as so many dark green veggies are.

    Seeds of Italy sell the seeds with some information re sowing (early it seems), and how to grow them. Good luck, post a picture if it goes well and you like it? You might start a whole new vegetable craze!

    It's commonly known here in Italy as Barba di Frate (Monk's - or Friar's - Beard). I tried it a couple of years ago. Plant the seed early, as soon as the ground's workable, before the soil gets too warm. Thin to around a foot apart, you can start to harvest when it gets to 5 or 6 inches. It's a bit of an acquired taste, I have to say, but very versatile.
