Blueberry re-potting

  Needing to re-pot some blueberries to bigger pots.
  2 fairly straight forward questions hopefully.
  Is it best to wait until it warms up a bit. (I do have an unheated greenhouse)
  Is it best to remove all the old ericaceous compost to bare roots or just pick up the ball and fill in the gap around the outsides of the new pots.
  I have been feeding and they have been fruiting reasonably well for small (18 inches high) plants.

  I would be inclined to wait for a bit until you see some growth and it warms up-when you repot you do not want too disturb the root-ball too much but if the roots are compacted just tease them out slightly-then into bigger pot. fresh compost in the bottom, down the sides, a tap ,water with rainwater- job done
  
  Mine are outside in really large tubs.

  Usually when moving plants from one pot to s size bigger, just gently rough up the outer area of the root ball, where it might have become hard or compacted is enough. Centre it in the new pot and add the fresh ericaceous compost around the plant. Top dress with gravel, water well and wait for lots of lovely fruit/.
  
  I would wait a couple of months before doing this though as disturbed roots are more susceptible to disease and cold damage - and winter is showing its teeth here today.
