Bagged earlier today some veg seeds from a seed swap and some of the things I am not sure how to grow.
Is anyone familiar with the following plants
Babington Leek (came as a cluster on a stalk)
Asparagus Pea (says on the not eat young or they go inedible)
Blue lake Climbing pencil/Pod Bean No info at all.
Got some Tomato alicante and green marrow that is long and stripy green. Just spotted that the note on the later says before 2011... Thought I had taken a packet of rocket but must have dropped it or put it back.
Don't know the leeks- sorry!
Asparagus peas are interesting - very pretty flowers and wavy pods - pick them when they are about 2" long.
Blue Lake are very good climbing fench beans - we always grow them either up a wigwam or bean poles.
The Marrow seeds should still be o.k

Hi
Can help on the bean-that is a French type that I grew last summer-hold off until the ground is warm and all frosts have gone-I found that they germinated in a few days sown direct in the ground by a support-at a guess you should be safe around mid-May where you are.
The others I can't really help on-would not worry too much about sow by dates they are just a guide- a lot of seeds are ok for the following year.
Not to worried about the date on the marrow. My seeds tend to be old but germinate still. I'm quite intrigued by the leek that seems to be a come and cut again affair.
Ups forgot to say thanks for your info. Silly me.
Asparaugus peas are realy pretty, but do eat very young,
Mine were horrible by the time I had decided to harvest.
