Is it too late to start off broad beans in an unheated green house this weekend or would I be better off leaving them then planting straight into the ground in early April
Get them in straightaway! You'll get a better crop. They actually like the colder weather, and by May, the blackfly start appearing...
I started mine off in an unheated greenhouse on 14th Feb and they are just emerging and I will probably transfer them to a raised bed late in March. If you sow yours now you should have plants ready for planting in their growing position early April which is o.k. and with luck you should have a decent crop before black fly give you trouble.
I sowed ours today
We have not even thought about starting them, it is too cold here.
Thanks to everybody who has given advice that will be Sunday mornings job.
