We would like to grow baking potatoes - can anyone suggest which variety we need to buy?

Maris Piper every time. Roosters are also good though

IMO Cara are the best bakers and they keep well.
We like Picasso and Marfona for baking

Slugs don't like them so I never find one in the tuber and because of their colour they look quite good on a plate.
IMHO As I see it, it is very much a personal thing, and more to the point; will the variety you choose grow well in your soil as this is key to the whole issue
I was told by an older gardener that if you wish for fewer but larger spuds, rub off all sproutings but one. I don't know if this works, but it may be worth a try. Cheers, Tony.

I am a chef and we used to buy Estima for baking.cooked up nice and fluffy.
Rooster make a loverly baked potatoe. They are red skinned and I love them. I struggled in the past to get hold of them, so they must be popular with others too.
