Living Statistic

The inside and personal story of the Kachepa family's fight to avoid deportation from the UK and how the local community in Weymouth supported them with protests and an organised campaign.

The story of the Kachepa family hit the national headlines in 2005 when they faced forced deportation from Weymouth where they had lived for the previous five years.Ìý

The local community rallied to their support mounting a campaign against the decision as the family claimed they were concerned for their safety if they returned to their native Malawi.

Alex Kachepa worked with friends and supporters and director Peter Snelling for this personal account of a turbulent time in the family's life.
