Running for more than 50 years, and now with new organisers at the helm, even persistent heavy downpours didn't prevent it from going ahead. With a new team behind the annual tradition, Weymouth's Carnival returned for another year on Wednesday 20 August - and with a greener, community based theme. Help playing audio/video After the Weymouth Carnival of 2007, it was uncertain if there'd be another one. Weymouth Carnival 2008 Organisers, Weymouth's Round Table, had decided to no longer run the event, which, after more than 50 years, nearly meant the end of the town's traditional annual festival. So with the event deemed a success, Sue says: "We got there, we got it done - and we'll be back next year."
