Poole Park Fest 鈥�07 run by the Friends of Poole Park begins on Sunday 26th August and runs over the Bank Holiday. The theme is Sport, leisure and music and looks set to include a wide range of acts and performers as well as things to try and ride.

This is the fourth time the festival has been staged and numbers have grown steadily since it began, and last year an estimated 25,000 were in attendance over the two days.

Bands and acts from across the country will be visiting the music stages which have been supported Poole live music venue Mr Kyps.

Sports

Sport is one of the main themes for the festival with visitors being given the opportunity to try out a range of activities and keep fit programmes.

"There will be a chance to have a go at everything from Tennis and Bowles to stuff like Buggy Fit and our Green Gym, where people can get fit outside in the park. And it is all available to try for free!" says Bob.

We want to introduce a fitness trail for people to use so they can enjoy the park while keeping fit.鈥�

Fitness trail

The trail is expected to cost around 拢30,000 to construct and the Friends are currently discussing the plans with the local council. "We are a team of volunteers,鈥� explains Bob. "So obviously we are looking for people to donate generously by coming down and experiencing what we have on offer."

As well as stalls and stands there are also rides and street acts for visitors to enjoy, including a show being put on by the Animal Bike Cruiser Team, where stunt riders will perform somersaults and 360s while on their bikes in the main arena.

There will also be various attractions on the water for people to take part in and watch, such as canoeing and wind surfing.

The aim of the festival is to raise public awareness of Poole Park both as a fun place to visit and as great venue for sports and leisure clubs to use for their activities.
"The main purpose for the event is to help raise money so that we can help the park remain a garden for the community

"It should be a really great couple of days and there will be something for everyone, young and old in Poole Park," said Bob.
