Bournemouth’s Oceanarium will be full of crocs, snakes and sting rays to celebrate the life of the Australian wildlife expert Steve Irwin. Thursday 16 November will be a worldwide day of remembrance for the man universally known as the Crocodile Hunter. To mark the occasion, the Oceanarium is holding a special Steve Irwin event over the weekend of 17 and 18 November. Visitors will be able to get up close and personal with all the things Steve was passionate about in his life. Liberty’s, the Ringwood-based Raptor and Reptile Centre, are slithering down to the Oceanarium with a selection of snakes - including pythons. Special crocodile and stingray presentations will be held at 1pm and 2.30pm every day, where visitors can learn more about these animals and get hands-on with fascinating stingray artefacts to learn about their barbed and poisonous sting. Khaki shorts and the catchphrase ‘Crikey’ became Steve’s signatures and he was an inspiration to millions of fans including the displays team at the Oceanarium. Welcome hosts will be wearing khaki outfits to work for the weekend hoping to raise money for Australia Zoo’s Wildlife Warriors fund. last updated: 29/10/07 Have Your SayWhat are your favourite Steve Irwin memories?
