Brief Description | Water free egg cooker |
James Seddon's prototype failed spectacularly in the Den but he still won investment from Richard and Peter. Has the revolutionary water-free egg cooker brought home the bacon?
Richard Farleigh and Peter Jones saw the ingenuity behind James's defective demonstration and invested in the Den but the deal fell through shortly after.
Despite this and difficulties in manufacturing the heating elements, James has persevered with EggXactly seeking information in some unusual places as he explains: "One of the amazing things was we stumbled across a product that was vaguely similar but for a totally different military application. And nobody would tell us where it was made because it was an official secret!"
James has spent a year cracking the problems and hopes to be manufacturing the product before the end of summer 2009. With a granted European patent and 10,000 online pre-orders already, the inventor is feeling optimistic "people are obviously keen to have well cooked, hassle-free boiled eggs!"
James feels that the low price point and energy efficiency of his invention will make it a winner in the current economic climate.
James was interviewed for this article on 29 June 2009
