Sarah Lu had Deborah enchanted by her personalisable Youdoodolls in the Den. Since production began, have they worked their magic in the market place?
Youdoodolls were rolling off the production line at the desired lower price point when we last saw Sarah and after good Christmas sales in 2007 the company joined forces with Pepe Jeans to promote the growing trend of personalisation.
In the Den, Deborah expressed concerns about the longevity of the product and was keen to look for ways of extending the brand.
Addressing these concerns, Sarah has partnered with the Dogs Trust to launch her youdoodogs in 2008 with a pound from each sold going to the charity and the summer of 2009 sees the introduction of youdoocats.
With an order from a British high street chain the youdoo brand is still growing and the team are currently developing dolls with extra features, hoping to break the American market.
Sarah says they had a quiet start to 2009, possibly due to the credit crunch, but her plans are still for "world domination" and she is now focusing on international markets with youdoodolls making appearances in both the US and Japan this year.
Sarah was interviewed for this article on 26 June 2009
