About this film

During the study of Macbeth with my Year 9 class we looked at the 大象传媒 60 Second Shakespeare idea. We spent half a lesson looking at the website and discussing possibilities and then I left them to it! I deliberately kept my input to a minimum in order to encourage them to think about the play, its themes, language and characters.

My main concern was that what they would learn in the process would help them respond well in the forthcoming SAT exam - it was the process rather than the product that was important. For them it was having fun and trying to create something unique and memorable that would 'get on the telly'. The result is ten films (of which this is just one) which demonstrate a boundlessly enthusiastic, imaginative and kinaesthetic approach to the teaching of Shakespeare.

Hi. Not a bad piece for a year 9 class, considering how little time and experienced intervention there was. If they wanted to improve, a good way to start would be to have only one person doing the voice over at any one time. With multiple voices they do get tangled and out of sync with each other. It does get across the majority of the play, and its understandable, so I like it.

Dom
It lasted more than 60 seconds.

Anna
I couldn't understand half the words but I liked the sword fighting!

Saskia
Cool but what had it to do with the Matrix, someone kindly explain? :-)

Tinkerbell
I liked it, it was quite good.

It gets a high mark for creativity, but the coordination was awful. You can barely hear the story because of the jumble of voices. I think a small intense part of the play would have been more effective.

Jessica
I really got what Macbeth was about. It really explained it well. Good job.

Al
Easily the best I've seen. Gets more of the story covered.

Snow White
I thought this piece was brilliantly choreographed but would be better if they wore costumes.

Simon Dingwall
I am harsh when reviewing these, but that was fantastic! It has anything you could want, fantastic creativity, great humour, and brilliant acting. Very informative and great entertainment value. Not the best set or costume, but the rest more than makes up for this. 9.5/10.

I thought this was a great attempt to do all of the play in 60 seconds. I thought the bit when MacDuff was waving at them lol!

Jack Maller
This is good it gets the whole story across, and it is also action packed and I enjoyed it.

Kathryn Harrop
That was a very good performance with very good atmosphere. The rap rhymed and told the whole story in just a minute-an impressive thing to do! Good acting!

Steffi Mustard
I like this one, because it is clear to hear and very funny!!!!!! (especially the part with the wood)
