Find out what's in store for E20 series two, as we grill the writers and producers.
It's back! Following on from the huge success of EastEnders: E20, a second series of the hit online spin-off that unleashed Zsa Zsa, Fat Boy, Leon and Mercy to Walford will hit our screens this autumn.
The new series will focus on four brand new young characters, who will live in a flat above Roxy's beauty salon. So whatever else happens, we predict that they'll all have perfect nails and flawless skin by the end of the run!
Bigger and better than ever, Series 2 will premiere online on the EastEnders website later this year. This time around, the show will run for 10 episodes, each 14 minutes long. If you prefer your E20 on TV, however, they'll also be screened in five omnibus editions on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three.
"I am so pleased that we are announcing a second series of EastEnders: E20," revealed EastEnders Executive Producer, Bryan Kirkwood. "Not only have viewing figures been fantastic but - and most importantly - we've had such positive feedback from the viewers."
Series Two will be penned by the same 13 young writers - all aged between 17 and 22 - responsible for the first run of episodes.
"It'll be very exciting to see where our brilliant young writers will take the next series and the evolution of a whole new set of characters," added Bryan. "The cast have been a noisy burst of fun in EastEnders and provided the show with new faces that audiences have really engaged with."
If you haven't already, check out the video above for an exclusive scoop on what's to come from the series' writers and producers.
As before, the E20 website, along with its Facebook and Twitter pages, will feature a wealth of exclusive behind-the-scenes videos that let you in on every stage of the production process, cast interviews and extra-special clips that will extend the E20 world.
Between January 8th 2010 and February 18th 2010, EastEnders: E20 attracted over 3 million requests across the EastEnders website and ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer plus over half a million viewers on red button.
"E20 was one of the most ambitious and successful multiplatform projects we've commissioned," Simon Nelson, Controller of Portfolio and Multiplatform, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Vision, told us. "It was brilliantly realised by the EastEnders team, introduced new writing and acting talent and threaded audiences and plotlines between the main and spin-off shows."
If you somehow missed the first series of E20, you can a) stop what you're doing immediately and watch it online now or b) tune into ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three from Friday April 23rd at 8.30pm for the first of three 30-minute episodes. Or both. We don't mind.
EastEnders: E20 series 2 will be available here on the website, with repeats on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three, in September 2010.
