Lochore Park before the makeover As part of Springwatch 2008, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Scotland challenged listeners to turn unloved pieces of land into breathing places for people and nature. Over one weekend locations across the UK were tackled by special ‘SWAT’ teams. The teams of local volunteers had one day to transform a piece of land.Ìý The sites which were chosen were neglected and had potential for aÌý real transformation. Volunteers take a well earned rest What happened at Lochore Meadows Country Park?The aim of the makeover at Lochore Park was to develop a tree nursery.Ìý This involved some clearance of the site before making raised beds, provision for vehicle access and paths between beds.Ìý The site also needed appropriate fencing around it and possible gates, all of which needed to be rabbit-proof.
