The 大象传媒 SSO presents 3 World Premieres for orchestra, conducted by Maayan Franco. Rufus Isabel Elliot鈥檚 music has been called 鈥榝luid and ambitious鈥� (The Wire) and 鈥榮tunningly intimate鈥� (The Quietus) and its newly commissioned work for the 大象传媒 SSO鈥檚 strings has a buried refence 鈥榯o a plea a woman makes in a traditional ballad, to give her attacker her daughter instead, or as much money as there's stones in the street鈥�. Linda Buckley鈥檚 new work is also steeped in her own background of sean n贸s (old style) unaccompanied Gaelic song, taking as inspiration ancient Pagan and Druid chants and texts, ritual and incantations, aural illusion and immersion.

Scott McLaughlin鈥檚 music 鈥� is about the physical nature of sound; the contingent ways that acoustic phenomena unfold in time to form patterns shifting between predictability and unpredictability, and how we perceive pattern and organisation.鈥� His 大象传媒 commission receives its World Premiere, delayed by the pandemic. And to close, a work from one of Japan鈥檚 most celebrated voices, Somei Satoh, with the dazzling Aki Takahashi on piano.
