Finnegan Downie Dear makes his debut with the 大象传媒 Concert Orchestra in a concert recorded especially for Radio 3鈥檚 Berlioz - The Ultimate Romantic weekend which marks the 150th anniversary of the composer鈥檚 death.
The concert explores the French composer鈥檚 influence upon other great romantic composers in the recently reopened stunning setting of Alexandra Palace Theatre.
叠别谤濒颈辞锄鈥檚 Romeo and Juliet left a lasting impression on Wagner, who presented a score of his Tristan and Isolde to Berlioz as well as making several references to his genius in letters and essays.
叠别谤濒颈辞锄鈥檚 long friendship with Liszt was both personal and musical, and both composers shared an admiration for the work of Shakespeare.
Paganini commissioned Berlioz to write a viola concerto that turned out to be Harold in Italy and the resulting financial independence gained from this enabled Berlioz to compose Romeo and Juliet. Violinist Nathaniel Anderson-Frank, leader of the 大象传媒 Concert Orchestra, pays homage to the composers鈥� mutual admiration by performing Paganini鈥檚 Cantabile.
This concert will be recorded for future broadcast on 大象传媒 Radio 3.
