Chief Conductor John Storg氓rds has a natural affinity with this music and is the dedicatee of tonight鈥檚 opener, the thrilling, most recent symphony of Danish composer Per N酶rg氓rd, a mind-bending kaleidoscope for large orchestra. Sorg氓rds has been called a 鈥渕aster architect鈥� of this great symphonist, as revealed in his recorded cycle of all the symphonies with the orchestra.

Paul Lewis returns to perform a colossus of the solo repertoire - the towering Piano Concerto by Grieg. The work explores the natural wonders and rich folklore of Norway. Grieg鈥檚 dramatic storytelling and effortless melodies reach their apex in this glorious work.

Finally, Sibelius鈥檚 Third Symphony. John Storg氓rds has been called a 鈥榤aster architect鈥� of this great symphonist. The synergy between these two Finns is, quite simply unmissable.
